Autumn Lunch at Magheramorne Estate Raises £6,000 for Cancer Research UK

Ballymena

More than 160 guests gathered at Magheramorne Estate on Wednesday 21 October for a special Autumn Lunch in aid of Cancer Research UK, raising an impressive £6,000 to support pioneering cancer research in Belfast.

Organised by the Cancer Research UK Ballymena Fundraising Group and hosted by Magheramorne Estate, the event welcomed guests to the beautiful Victorian manor house for an afternoon of fine food, fundraising and entertainment.

The lunch featured special guest speaker Lady Mary Peters, with renowned broadcaster Dr Wendy Austin MBE acting as compère for the occasion.

The £6,000 raised will help support pioneering research being undertaken at one of Cancer Research UK's Experimental Cancer Medicine Centres in Belfast, contributing to the charity's vital work in preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer.

Eileen Moore, Chairperson of the Cancer Research UK Ballymena Fundraising Group, expressed her gratitude to everyone who helped make the event such a success.

“As a local fundraising group for Cancer Research UK we would like to thank Magheramorne Estate for hosting us in such spectacular surroundings and to also thank all of our guests for attending and generously supporting us in raising such a substantial amount of money. Without this resounding support we couldn’t have raised such a wonderful amount for such a worthy cause.”

Cancer Research UK is the world's leading cancer charity, dedicated to saving and improving lives through research. Funds raised by local groups such as the Ballymena Fundraising Group play an important role in supporting its ongoing work to develop better treatments and improve outcomes for people affected by cancer.
