Triple Triumph for Townland Boxing Club as three boxers crowned Ulster Senior Champions

It was a remarkable night for Townland Boxing Club in Crumlin as three of its homegrown boxers were crowned Ulster Senior Champions, completing an incredible hat trick of victories for the club.

Brothers Terry and Lee Hanna, alongside clubmate Conor McCrory, each delivered outstanding performances in their respective finals to claim their Ulster Senior titles. All three demonstrated skill, composure and dedication developed through years of training, making it a truly memorable night for the club.

What makes the achievement particularly special is that all three boxers began their journeys at Townland when they were just six years old. Their success is the culmination of years of commitment, determination and countless hours spent developing their skills.

Brothers Terry and Lee shared a significant achievement on the same night, while Conor’s victory completed a remarkable treble for the club. Behind their success is dedicated coach Tommy Quinn, who has watched the three lads develop into accomplished senior boxers. Also sharing in the celebrations was Ryan Quinn, who supported the trio in the corner throughout their championship fights.

Reflecting on the achievement, Tommy Quinn said: “This is the proudest moment in Townland’s history. These three lads walked through our doors as young children and now they’re walking back through those same doors as Ulster Senior Champions. To see all three of them achieve this on the same night is something very special. They’ve put years of hard work into their boxing and they deserve every bit of this success. I couldn’t be prouder of them.

“When you coach young lads from that age, you watch them grow up, you see the effort they put in and the sacrifices they make. To see them reach this level and bring three Ulster titles back to Townland is an incredible feeling.”

The victories are a tremendous achievement for Townland Boxing Club, a small rural club in Glenavy with a big heart. The success of all three boxers proves the dedication, commitment and hard work that goes on behind the scenes, showing just what can be achieved in a small community club.

Beyond the titles and trophies, Townland provides young people with opportunities to develop confidence, discipline and friendships, while encouraging them to work hard and strive towards their goals.
